I love sharing my shuttle collection. I only brought a few but the Japanese tatters like tatters everywhere seemed to  enjoy seeing them.

They were particularly interested in the Bob-o-link, swing-arm Boye and the retractable hook on the Greenwalt shuttle. I guess they rarely see anything other than a post shuttle.

Here's a photo of the ones I brought.

  2. The Bob-o-link is the shuttle in the top left corner. It has an attached bobbin on one side and a small sleeve on the opposite side that slips inside it. So the sides pull apart. It is a patented shuttle.

  4. I found a Greenwalt Tatting shuttle and it was in really good condition. I posted about it on my blog and was wondering if you thought paying &42.50 was a good deal or not. I don't think the sellers knew what they were selling. Also I know the post inside is brass and the pin covering is brass...but the blades are not. Are they silver. Also my husband remarked that it looked like the shuttle was made soon after the Civil War. . Love your book by the way.
